Chief Ezekiel Adaji Emerges as New Benue State PDP Chairman Amidst Party Crisis

In the midst of internal challenges within the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ezekiel Adaji, a former member of the House of Representatives, has emerged as the party’s new chairman. His election took place during the state congress held in Makurdi on Thursday.

Chief Adaji will lead a newly formed 27-member State Executive Committee (SEC). The election results were announced by Alh. Ibrahim Shaba, head of the Benue State PDP Congress Electoral Committee. Other key positions filled include Dan Nyikwagh as State Secretary, Tim Nyor as State Publicity Secretary, Ibya Terkimbil as Youth Leader, and Mrs. Alice Albert as Women Leader, among others.

The new officials were sworn in by Caretaker Committee Legal Officer Friday Ejembi. In his acceptance speech, Chief Adaji expressed gratitude for the support from party members and promised to provide strong leadership aimed at restoring PDP’s influence in the state.

He highlighted reconciliation as a priority, announcing plans to form a committee to resolve disputes among aggrieved members. According to Shaba, out of a delegate list of 2,910, a total of 2,900 delegates were accredited for the election.
