Calabar Transforms Ahead Of Annual Carnival Kickoff

In preparation for the 2023 Calabar Carnival set to begin on Friday, the capital city of Cross River, Calabar, has undergone significant transformation.
The state government is finalizing the rehabilitation of major streets, desilting drainage systems, and actively managing waste to ensure smooth movement.
Landscapers have focused on lawns along the carnival routes, and the city’s aesthetics have been elevated with reactivated street lights, adorned junctions featuring Christmas decorations, and the Millennium Park transformed to mark the start of the carnival.
The Executive Secretary of the Carnival Commission, Mr. Austine Cobham, expressed plans to make this year’s edition the best ever, with the participation of countries like South Africa, Brazil, Turkey, and Egypt, along with 26 states from Nigeria.
Cobham assured that comprehensive security measures were in place for the safety of attendees throughout the festival.
