Borno Governor Zulum Transfers Power to Deputy for One Month

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has delegated his duties to Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur for a month-long period from June 10 to July 8, 2024.
This decision was announced during an emergency session of the Borno State House of Assembly (BOSHA) on Friday. Speaker Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan stated that the transfer aligns with the 1999 Constitution (as amended), ensuring a seamless transition of power.
“The Borno State House of Assembly has received an Executive Communication informing the Members of handing over the affairs of the office of the Executive Governor of Borno State to the Deputy Governor,” Lawan said.
The Speaker commended the move, highlighting that it guarantees continuity and smooth governance. This is not the first time Governor Zulum has entrusted power to Kadafur; he did so during his first term while attending the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
House leader Hon. Dige Muhammad proposed a recess until July 9, 2024, which was accepted. The assembly session was subsequently adjourned.
