Bala Mohammed:  “We Won’t Allow Anyone to Rig Us”

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has said the Allied People’s Movement (APM) will not engage in electoral manipulation during the 2027 general elections, while also warning that the party will resist any attempt to rig it out of victory.

Mohammed made the statement on Thursday at the Bauchi Government House during the affirmation of the party’s candidates for various elective positions in the state.

He said the APM would focus on presenting its performance and achievements to voters rather than relying on malpractice to secure electoral victory.

“We are not going to underestimate our competitors. Even if a child born today is a candidate, I am going to deal with him like a grown-up person,” he said.

“It is a new game entirely. We are going back to the people to sell our credentials and what we have done. We will not urge anybody to rig for us, but we will not allow anybody to rig us. This is our policy.”

The governor also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure transparency, fairness and credibility in the electoral process.

“If we win, we will accept it. If we lose, we will accept it, especially where there is transparency, justice and equity. That is democracy,” he added.

In a post on X, Mohammed announced that the APM had unveiled Yakubu Adamu as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election, with Mahmood Abubakar as his running mate.

He also confirmed that he had been endorsed as the party’s senatorial candidate for Bauchi South, describing the development as part of efforts to strengthen unity and expand the party’s support base ahead of the elections.

Mohammed urged party members and supporters to remain committed to what he called the pursuit of a more prosperous future for Bauchi State.
