Bala Mohammed Debunks Defection Rumour, Reaffirms Commitment to PDP

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed speculation that he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), describing the claims as unfounded and deliberately misleading.

The rumour gained traction after the PRP Publicity Secretary in Bauchi alleged that the governor was secretly seeking to join the party to avoid internal challenges within the PDP.

In a statement on Wednesday, Governor Mohammed through his Special Adviser on Media, Muhktar Gidado faulted the report, insisting it was fabricated to misinform the public. Gidado noted that the governor remains one of the strongest voices pushing for reforms within the PDP and working to protect the party from those “trying to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.”

He added that the PRP had “shown its true colours” by circulating the false claim, warning residents that “all that glitters is not gold.”

Gidado said Governor Mohammed will not be distracted from his focus on developing Bauchi State and fulfilling his mandate.

However, the governor also reaffirmed his constitutional right to decide his political future if he chooses to, stressing that he would never be forced into such decisions by “political turncoats who survive on lies and mischief.”
