Atiku Dismisses Defection Rumors, Reaffirms Commitment to PDP

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied reports suggesting he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In a statement issued on Saturday, Atiku’s media office dismissed the claims as baseless and urged Nigerians to disregard them.

“We wish to clarify that the so-called news of Atiku defecting to another party is a total fallacy that holds no merit in logic,” the statement read.

The media office reiterated Atiku’s commitment to forming a coalition of opposition parties to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. It stressed that the coalition would include the PDP and other opposition groups.

“Atiku remains a principal bonafide member of the PDP,” the statement emphasized, adding that the defection rumors were aimed at undermining efforts to unite the opposition against the APC.
