Arsenal have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2006, edging past Atlético Madrid with a hard-fought 1–0 victory in the semi-final second leg at the Emirates Stadium.
A decisive first-half goal from Bukayo Saka proved enough to seal the win, as Arsenal progressed 2–1 on aggregate following a 1–1 draw in the first leg.
The breakthrough came just before the interval when Saka reacted quickest inside the box to fire home from close range, sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters.
Under manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have undergone a significant transformation, combining youthful energy with experience to emerge as genuine contenders on the European stage.
In the second half, Arsenal displayed defensive discipline, with goalkeeper David Raya and the backline holding firm against sustained pressure from Diego Simeone’s side.
The victory marks a historic return to the final for the North London club, whose only previous appearance ended in a 2–1 defeat to FC Barcelona in Paris.
Arsenal will now face either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich in the final on May 30, as they chase their first-ever Champions League title.
With their Premier League title push still alive, the Gunners are now within reach of a historic double, a feat that would cement this season as one of the most remarkable in the club’s history.
