The Nigerian Army on Sunday announced a sweeping redeployment of top commanders, affecting Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, and Brigade Commanders.
Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, confirmed the changes in a statement, noting that the redeployment was approved by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
According to the statement, Maj.-Gen. Adekunle Adeyinka has been appointed Chief of Logistics (Army), Maj.-Gen. A.A. Adekeye as Chief of Personnel Management (Army), and Maj.-Gen. T.B. Ugiagbe as Chief of Standard and Evaluation. Maj.-Gen. A.A. Idris is now Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), while Maj.-Gen. M.O. Erebulu takes over as Provost Marshal (Army).
Other appointments include Maj.-Gen. E.A. Anaryu as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport; Maj.-Gen. J.E. Osifo as Director-General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation; and Maj.-Gen. S.A. Akesode as Head of Mission, African Union Verification Mission in Tigray, Ethiopia.
The new GOCs are Maj.-Gen. A.S.M. Wase, who assumes command of 1 Division/Commander Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Maj.-Gen. C.R. Nnebeife, who takes over 2 Division/Commander Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
In training institutions, Maj.-Gen. M.O. Ihanuwaze becomes Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School, Maj.-Gen. K.O. Osemwegie heads the Army Signal School, Maj.-Gen. A.J. Aliyu takes charge of the Ordnance School, while Maj.-Gen. A.C. Adetoba assumes leadership of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.
At brigade level, Brig.-Gen. M. Jimoh has been appointed Commander, 1 Brigade; Brig.-Gen. N.E. Okoloagu, Commander, 2 Brigade; and Brig.-Gen. A.A. Bello, Commander, 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3, Operation DELTA SAFE.
Lt.-Col. Anele said the COAS charged the newly appointed officers to redouble their efforts in sustaining ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats, while assuring that troops’ welfare remains his priority.
