APM Wins All 20 Chairmanship Seats in Bauchi LG Poll

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has secured a sweeping victory in Monday’s Bauchi State local government election, winning all 20 chairmanship seats contested across the state.

The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) also declared APM candidates winners in 319 of the 323 councillorship seats.

BASIEC Chairperson, Jummai Abubakar, announced the results after voting, counting, collation and verification were completed.

“Following the conclusion of voting, counting, collation and verification, I, Jummai Abubakar, Chairperson of BASIEC, hereby declare that all 20 APM candidates emerged victorious as Chairmen of the respective Local Government Areas,” she said.

Among the results declared, Bappah Aliyu won Alkaleri with 107,482 votes, while Umar Mohammed secured Bauchi LGA with 125,170 votes.

Zakka Luka emerged winner in Bogoro with 25,282 votes, Iliya Isah won Dambam with 19,730 votes, while Ya’u Sade took Darazo with 67,276 votes.

Mohammed Jibo won Dass with 35,264 votes, Ali Babayo secured Gamawa with 54,423 votes, and Mohammed Idris emerged victorious in Ganjuwa with 24,150 votes.

Mustapha Musa won Giade with 33,864 votes, Dankawuwa Ya’u secured Itas/Gadau with 24,989 votes, while Inuwa Abdullahi won Jama’are with 36,766 votes.

Yusuf Babayo Zaki emerged victorious in Katagum with 65,626 votes, Garba Musa won Kirfi with 24,787 votes, and Salisu Hussaini secured Misau with 34,378 votes.

Yahuza Adamu Haruna won Ningi with 29,387 votes, while former Majority Leader of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Saleh Hodi, secured Shira with 37,135 votes.

Sama’ila Wakili won Tafawa Balewa with 46,625 votes, while Abubakar Ibrahim Dembo secured Toro with 109,999 votes.

Habibu Idris emerged winner in Warji with 43,066 votes, while Mas’ud Aliyu won Zaki with 19,984 votes.

Four Opposition Parties Win Councillorship Seats

Despite APM’s dominance, four opposition parties secured one councillorship seat each.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) won Dandango Ward in Bauchi LGA, while the National Rescue Movement (NRM) secured Darazo South Ward.

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won Wandi Ward in Dass, while the Young Progressive Party (YPP) took Zirami Ward in Giade.

Abubakar said BASIEC confirmed the successful candidates as duly elected after they met the legal requirements and secured the highest number of valid votes in their respective constituencies.

She commended Governor Bala Mohammed for supporting the commission but maintained that the election was conducted independently and in accordance with the law.

The BASIEC chairperson congratulated Bauchi residents and the successful candidates on the conclusion of the exercise.
