Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the November 16 election in Ondo State, has called on party members and voters to remain steadfast and not be daunted by the power of incumbency. Speaking on Monday at the PDP Secretariat in Alagbaka, Akure, Ajayi emphasized the need for unity among party stakeholders to secure victory in the upcoming election.
Addressing PDP youths from all 203 wards and party leaders, Ajayi urged the electorate to stand firm despite alleged threats from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he claimed might use its power and federal influence to sway the election. He reassured the public of their right to vote for the party they believe will address the state’s socio-economic challenges.
“We have observed their strategies and are not intimidated. This is our state, and we will exercise our rights peacefully. The masses’ power outweighs any incumbency power,” Ajayi stated. He emphasized the importance of protecting and ensuring that votes are counted to reflect the people’s choice.
Director General of the PDP gubernatorial campaign committee, Eddy Olafeso, highlighted the party’s preparations and commitment. He assured that the PDP is united and determined to campaign across all levels, from units to local government areas, despite challenges.
“Our message is clear,” Olafeso said. “The suffering under the APC over the past nine years is evident rising school dropout rates, lack of business opportunities, and stalled development projects. Ondo State deserves better, and Agboola Ajayi represents a chance for positive change.”
He criticized the APC’s governance, accusing them of mismanagement and promising that the PDP will lead a revolution for a better life in Ondo State. “We are ready to replace the APC with a competent leadership that truly serves the people,” Olafeso asserted.
PDP youth leader Babatunde Daodu reported that mobilization efforts are underway across the three senatorial districts, with young people committed to overcoming any intimidation and ensuring their votes are protected. “We are determined to end the economic hardships and will not be deterred,” Daodu affirmed.
