A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty in Felony Assault Trial, Celebrates Emotional Verdict with Rihanna

A$AP Rocky was found not guilty on all charges in his felony assault trial, where he was accused of firing two shots at a former friend on a Hollywood street corner in 2021.

As the not-guilty verdict was read, a visibly emotional Rocky immediately embraced his partner, Rihanna, as the Los Angeles courtroom erupted in cheers from fans.

After just three hours of deliberation, the jury delivered the verdict, sparing Rocky—whose legal name is Rakim Mayers—from a potential two-decade prison sentence.

“Thank y’all for saving my life,” Rocky told the jurors as they exited the courtroom.

Outside the courthouse, he expressed his gratitude again:

“I really want to thank the jury for making the right decision. I’m just so thankful, this is crazy right now.”

“This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I’m thankful, nonetheless. I’m blessed to be here right now, a free man talking to y’all.”

Following the trial, Rihanna took to Instagram, writing:

“The glory belongs to God and God alone! Thankful. Humbled by His mercy!”

Throughout the three-week trial, Rihanna was present sporadically and even brought their two sons—2-year-old RZA and 1-year-old Riot Rose—to attend part of the closing arguments.

Deputy District Attorney John Lewin suggested the couple’s family presence was a tactic to sway jurors.

“They brought in two adorable children yesterday for closing argument,” Lewin said. “They haven’t been here any other time. And you have to ask yourselves, why would children that age be here in a situation like this?”

Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, dismissed the claim, defending Rihanna’s support:

“I took offense to prosecutor Lewin saying they ‘manufactured’ some sort of appearance of family. They’re a family. That’s why she was here to support him, and that’s why his kids came here—for him.”

With the trial behind him, Rocky now walks free, with his family and supporters rallying around him after the high-profile legal battle.
