Omo-Agege Threatens to Kill Anyone Who Rigs 2027 Election

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has threatened to kill anyone who rigs the 2027 general election, warning that electoral fraud would be met with violence.

Omo-Agege, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) contesting the Delta Central Senatorial seat, made the threat at a political gathering.

“I want to make the news again. Anybody who rigs the election on that day, we will kill him! If you don’t value your life, come and rig the election.

“They’re rigging your future. They’re rigging the future of your children. We’re waiting for them. Let them try it. It is rig and die. We’re going to give them aura for aura. There’s no court this time. We’re going to fight,” he said.

Omo-Agege contested the last governorship election in Delta State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) but lost to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was then the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oborevwori has since defected to the APC and is seeking re-election under the party.

Following the governor’s defection, Omo-Agege sought to return to the Senate under the APC but lost the party’s senatorial ticket to the incumbent, David Dafinone.

He subsequently defected to the NDC, where he vowed to unseat Dafinone in the 2027 election.

Announcing his defection in May, Omo-Agege said the decision followed weeks of reflection, consultations with political associates, supporters and stakeholders nationwide.

He also acknowledged the roles of NDC figures, including its founder, Senator Seriake Dickson; National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas; presidential aspirant, Governor Peter Obi; and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and NDC chieftain.

Omo-Agege said the party’s emphasis on inclusion, accountability, grassroots participation and true federalism informed his decision to join it.
