Leadership and sensitivity explores the importance of leading people with both strength and emotional awareness. Effective leadership is not only about making decisions, setting goals, or exercising authority; it is also about understanding how those decisions affect the people being led. Sensitivity in leadership does not mean weakness or avoiding difficult decisions. A good leader must be able to correct, challenge, discipline, and make unpopular choices while still treating people with dignity and respect. The challenge is finding the right balance between “compassion and accountability, empathy and authority, and understanding and decisiveness”. Too little sensitivity can create fear, resentment, and disengagement, while excessive sensitivity can make a leader hesitant to confront problems or uphold standards.
