Adeleke Camp Denies Political Pact With Tinubu

The Imole Campaign Council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has denied reports that the governor’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election was based on a political agreement between them.

The council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, made the clarification on Sunday while reacting to a comment by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, following Adeleke’s re-election.

Keyamo had congratulated Adeleke on his victory but added, “Agreement is agreement,” prompting speculation that the governor’s support for Tinubu was linked to an undisclosed political arrangement.

Rejecting the suggestion, Olajengbesi said Adeleke’s decision to support Tinubu was based on the President’s performance and economic reforms, rather than any pre-arranged deal.

“Do not undermine the resilience of Osun people. There is no agreement,” he said.

He added that Adeleke’s support for Tinubu was motivated by what the governor’s camp described as reforms that had strengthened states economically.

“Our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT, is based on his performance and reforms that have strengthened states economically.”

Olajengbesi also maintained that Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 governorship election was secured through the votes of Osun residents, while crediting Tinubu with allowing the democratic process to take its course.

“Osun people voted @AAdeleke_01. President Tinubu simply ensured democratic rules were respected,” he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, winner after he polled 511,067 votes, defeating the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.

Adeleke subsequently reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid, describing the President as a “son of Osun State.”

Keyamo’s “agreement is agreement” comment came after the endorsement, with the minister also describing Adeleke as a “man of integrity and honour.”

The remark generated reactions in political circles, with some interpreting it as evidence of a private understanding between the President and the Osun governor.

Adeleke’s campaign council, however, insisted that no such political pact existed and that the governor’s support for Tinubu was based solely on the administration’s performance and reforms.
