The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured air travellers that the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions will not disrupt flight operations across the country.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos, the authority said it was working with aviation agencies, airlines, security agencies and other stakeholders to keep airport operations safe, secure and functional.

FAAN said it was closely monitoring developments surrounding the industrial action and had put measures in place to minimise its impact on passengers and flight operations.

The authority acknowledged the legitimate role of organised labour while supporting efforts by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other stakeholders to resolve the dispute.

According to FAAN, earlier operational challenges affecting the movement of some flights within the airside environment had been addressed through inter-agency coordination, with measures being sustained to ensure smooth operations.

“FAAN remains committed to ensuring that Nigeria’s airports remain safe, secure, functional and accessible to passengers and other airport users,” the authority said.

The agency advised passengers to remain calm and maintain contact with their respective airlines for real-time updates on flight schedules.

The assurance comes amid industrial action by aviation unions, which has disrupted activities at some airports as workers intensify pressure over their demands.

FAAN expressed confidence that ongoing discussions under the leadership of the aviation minister would result in a speedy and mutually acceptable resolution of the dispute.
