Air Peace has received approval from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to operate scheduled passenger, cargo and mail flights into and out of the South American country, marking a major step in its international expansion.
The approval was contained in ANAC Ordinance No. 19.449/2026, which authorises the airline to run regular services between Brazil and destinations within its existing network, effectively paving the way for direct air connectivity between Nigeria and Brazil.
The airline described the development as a significant milestone in its ambition to evolve into a global carrier, noting that the new route would strengthen travel, trade and cultural ties between both countries.
Direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil are expected to reduce journey time from nearly two days with multiple stopovers to about seven hours, significantly easing passenger movement and boosting tourism and business opportunities.
Beyond passenger travel, the new route is also expected to enhance cargo operations and deepen economic relations between Nigeria, Brazil and the wider South American region.
Air Peace said the approval addresses a long-standing gap in bilateral connectivity, given the historical, cultural and commercial ties between both nations.
The airline also linked the development to its broader international expansion strategy, which includes planned operations to Toronto and New York in North America, renewed services to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Guangzhou in China, as well as proposed flights to Manchester in the United Kingdom.
It added that it is also expanding across Africa, with new services to Libreville, Conakry, Bamako and Douala expected to commence soon as part of its wider network growth strategy.
With the latest approval, the airline said it is strengthening its position as Nigeria’s leading international carrier while pushing toward its goal of becoming a recognised global aviation brand.
