Datti Baba-Ahmed Denies Rift With Peter Obi, Affirms Mutual Respect

Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has dismissed claims of a rift between him and former presidential candidate Peter Obi, insisting that their relationship remains strong despite political differences after the 2023 general election.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Inside Sources, Datti said attempts to create division between him and Obi would fail, stressing that personal respect between them has remained intact.

“Nobody will cause problems between me and my boss, Peter Obi. He can be in any party today, I still have respect for him,” he said.

He noted that although both politicians are now in different political camps ahead of the 2027 elections, they continue to maintain mutual respect.

According to him, Obi remains one of the political figures he deeply admires, both for his leadership record and personal discipline.

“I respect him as someone who governed Anambra State and as someone who doesn’t give shishi,” Datti added.

He further dismissed claims that disagreements over the 2023 election performance or party dynamics had affected their relationship, insisting there is no fallout between them.

Datti said their shared respect remains unchanged regardless of political realignments, adding that speculation about a breakdown in their relationship is unfounded.

His comments come amid ongoing political realignments and rising speculation about potential alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
