Jigawa APC Leaders Back Tinubu, Namadi with ₦150m Forms Ahead of 2027 Race

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Committee in Jigawa State has thrown its weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi, endorsing both as the party’s sole candidates for the 2027 elections after purchasing nomination forms valued at ₦150 million.

State APC Chairman, Ahmed Garba, announced the decision during a meeting with Governor Namadi in Dutse, explaining that it followed wide consultations with party stakeholders and leaders across Jigawa.
He said the endorsement is intended to promote party cohesion and maintain policy continuity at both federal and state levels.
The move comes shortly after the APC unveiled its 2027 election timetable, scheduling the presidential primary for May 15 and 16, 2026. Under the party’s rules, presidential hopefuls must pay ₦100 million for nomination and expression of interest forms, while governorship aspirants are required to pay ₦50 million.
Party elders in the state have also opted for a consensus approach to the primaries, describing it as a way to avoid internal conflicts and strengthen unity ahead of the general elections.
They expressed confidence in the leadership of Tinubu and Namadi, pointing to progress in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, and economic policy.
According to the committee, the early endorsement is designed to rally support, streamline preparations, and improve the party’s chances of success in 2027.
