Senate Republicans approved a budget resolution early Thursday, advancing a framework to fund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) after an overnight voting session.

The measure passed 50–48, requiring only a simple majority. Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rand Paul of Kentucky joined Democrats in opposing the resolution, while the remaining GOP members voted in favor.

The vote, finalized around 3:36 a.m., followed a roughly six-hour “vote-a-rama,” a marathon session during which senators considered a series of amendments.

The approved resolution sets the stage for drafting a broader spending bill that Republicans say will allocate billions of dollars to strengthen immigration enforcement operations.
