Singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, has been arrested in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl whose body was discovered in September inside the trunk of a towed Tesla registered to him, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Burke, a 21-year-old Los Angeles resident, is being held without bail on suspicion of murdering Celeste Rivas Hernandez, officials said.
Law enforcement sources indicated the arrest was based on evidence establishing probable cause, though no formal indictment has been issued. Authorities said the case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
In a statement, Burke’s attorneys denied the allegations, asserting his innocence.
“The evidence will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and was not responsible for her death,” the statement said, adding that no criminal complaint has yet been filed and that he is currently being held under suspicion.
Rivas Hernandez, who was from Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, had been reported missing in 2024. Investigators previously indicated that her body had been dismembered, and early findings suggested that more than one person may have been involved in the crime.
The investigation remains ongoing.
