President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today, Thursday, April 2, 2026, visit Jos following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba that left at least 28 people dead and several others injured.
The visit is aimed at commiserating with the government and people of Plateau State after the violence, which occurred on Sunday in Jos North Local Government Area.
According to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the trip replaces the President’s earlier scheduled visit to Iperu, Ogun State, where he was to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport. Instead, Tinubu will travel to Plateau in a show of solidarity with victims and affected communities, underscoring the federal government’s response to the security situation.
After the Jos visit, the President is expected to proceed to Lagos to observe Good Friday.
On Saturday, April 4, he will travel to Ogun State for the commissioning of the cargo airport project and the inauguration of two commercial aircraft aimed at boosting import and export activities. He will also inaugurate the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service and its operational vehicles.
During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu is expected to commission major infrastructure projects delivered by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, including the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a multi-agency complex named after him, and a new school complex.
The President’s itinerary will conclude with a visit to Bayelsa State on April 10, where he is scheduled to commission projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri before returning to Abuja.
