Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council, paving the way for potential political participation by members of his cabinet ahead of upcoming elections.
The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani, who explained that the move is intended to create an enabling environment for commissioners interested in contesting elective positions in the forthcoming general elections.
According to the directive, all commissioners are required to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to Permanent Secretaries on or before April 3, 2026.
Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the outgoing council members for their service, commending their dedication and contributions to the development of Borno State during their tenure.
