Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, has said the reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are designed to secure Nigeria’s long-term stability despite short-term challenges.
Gbajabiamila made the remarks on Tuesday at the State House while receiving leaders of Working People United (WOPU), noting that the administration’s policies are focused on addressing deep-rooted structural issues in the country.
He explained that while the reforms may be difficult in the short term, they are necessary for sustainable national development. According to him, effective leadership often involves making tough and sometimes unpopular decisions for the greater good.
Gbajabiamila added that the reforms are already reshaping national discourse, with attention shifting from questioning their necessity to evaluating their implementation. He expressed confidence that the country is gradually moving towards stability despite initial hurdles.
The Chief of Staff also commended WOPU for its constructive engagement, stressing that collaboration between government and civic groups is vital for national progress.
Speaking earlier, WOPU Coordinator-General Williams Akporeha said the organisation represents a broad coalition of Nigerian workers and stakeholders committed to economic growth.
Akporeha noted that the group comprises members from various sectors, including artisans, professionals, farmers, and youths, with presence across all states, local government areas, and wards.
He said WOPU is actively mobilising support for the government’s reform agenda and believes that sustained collaboration will strengthen democratic institutions and boost public confidence.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue and partnership in advancing Nigeria’s economic and institutional reforms.
