ADC Chairman Alleges Senator Ireti Kingibe Withheld ₦100m Campaign Funds

The chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja Municipal Area Council, Omale Sule, has accused Ireti Kingibe of collecting ₦100 million from the party’s national leadership ahead of the Federal Capital Territory area council elections but failing to channel the funds to the party structure.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Sule claimed the money was allegedly released to Kingibe shortly before the FCT local government polls, but party officials at the grassroots never saw any part of it.
“We heard that N100 million was given to Senator Ireti Kingibe from ADC National just before the FCT local government election, but we never saw anything from her,” Sule said.
The accusation comes amid a legal dispute within the party after the FCT chapter of the ADC approached the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop Kingibe from presenting herself as a member of the party.
Sule also criticised the senator’s relationship with the party structure in the territory, alleging that she does not attend party meetings or coordinate with local officials.
“The worst of all is that she never works with the party structure. You can create your own structure outside the party’s own. Everybody, even the president of this country today has a Ward where he comes from and whenever they call for a meeting and he’s not able to attend, somehow he would send a message across,” he said.
He added that the senator rarely engages with party leaders in the territory despite being regarded as the party’s top political figure in the FCT.
“But in our own case here, the only Senator we have that is our leader here in FCT is not attending meeting. She doesn’t even liase with the state chairmen,” Sule stated.
