GOP Applauds Iran Strikes as Democrats Demand Answers From Trump Administration

In the aftermath of what U.S. officials described as “massive” strikes on Iran carried out jointly by the United States and Israel on Saturday, lawmakers on Capitol Hill began reacting swiftly — with Republicans voicing strong support and Democrats calling for greater transparency.

Several Republicans praised President Donald Trump for authorizing the military action, framing it as a decisive step against Tehran and a potential turning point for the Iranian people.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a longtime Trump ally, wrote on X that “the end of the largest state sponsor of terrorism is upon us,” expressing hope that the operation could usher in “freedom” for Iranians.

In a separate post, Graham said he believed the Iranian government was nearing collapse, calling the moment “the biggest change in the Middle East in a thousand years.”

Rep. Nancy Mace also backed the strikes, arguing that Iran’s leadership had “slaughtered thousands of its own people in recent days.” She said the military action should serve as a warning to authoritarian governments worldwide.

“Tyrants and terrorists everywhere should take note: the world is watching. History is watching,” Mace wrote.

Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers have begun demanding briefings and clarification from the administration about the scope, legal authority and potential consequences of the operation, signaling a likely partisan debate over the escalation in the days ahead.
