The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the electronic upload of results from the FCT Area Council elections on its INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
As of 9:04 p.m. on Saturday, checks by Channels Television showed results from polling units across the six FCT area councils gradually appearing on the portal. The Kwali chairmanship results had reached 56.72%, while Gwagwalada Area Council stood at 65.68% uploaded.
INEC is also uploading results from the Kano and Rivers State bye-elections, alongside the FCT councillorship and chairmanship contests.
Earlier, the FCT Electoral Commissioner and INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, assured journalists while monitoring the exercise that results would be uploaded in line with the law. He praised INEC officials for the early deployment of materials and described the elections as peaceful across the territory.
Amupitan said the credibility of the FCT council polls would boost confidence in grassroots democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The upload process follows the assent by Bola Tinubu to the Electoral Act 2026 on Wednesday, which provides for electronic transmission of results with a manual backup option in case of technical failure.
