Tinubu Concludes Türkiye Trip with Nine Agreements

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following the conclusion of a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye.

The presidential aircraft, an Airbus A330, arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 8:55 p.m. on Saturday, according to a brief statement issued by the Presidency to State House correspondents on Saturday evening.

Tinubu’s trip, which commenced on Tuesday, featured high-level engagements with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other senior government officials. Discussions during the visit centred on strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and Türkiye, while also exploring new areas of cooperation and expanding existing partnerships for mutual benefit.

The visit culminated in the signing of nine bilateral agreements spanning key sectors including defence, energy, security, scientific research, and other strategic areas considered vital for national development. Both leaders held extensive talks aimed at deepening collaboration and advancing shared objectives between the two countries.

Members of the presidential delegation included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.); and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

President Tinubu concluded the official trip with the formalisation of the agreements, marking another step in Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships and enhance bilateral cooperation with Türkiye. The Presidency said details of the agreements would be revealed later.
