President Tinubu Returns From Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit

President Bola Tinubu is set to return to Nigeria today after participating in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Summit.

A statement on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, said Tinubu attended the summit alongside several ministers.

“On the sidelines of the summit, Nigeria signed a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with the United Arab Emirates,” the statement reads.

Onanuga explained that the agreement is aimed at deepening economic cooperation, boosting bilateral trade and investment, enhancing technology transfer, and expanding collaboration across sectors including energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, and renewable energy.

“At the event, Tinubu announced that a joint Nigeria–United Arab Emirates INVESTOPIA would hold in Lagos in February to attract global investors,” the statement adds.

“Tinubu also said Nigeria plans to mobilise up to $30 billion annually in climate and green industrial finance as it accelerates energy transition reforms and expands electricity access nationwide.”

President Tinubu departed Lagos for Europe on December 28, 2025, for his end-of-year break. Onanuga noted that he later travelled from Europe to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week summit.
