Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has donated 30 operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police, Anambra State Command, as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement and sustain security gains across the state.
The handover ceremony comes a year after the state government provided 170 vehicles to security agencies to enhance rapid response and policing capabilities.
At the event, Governor Soludo highlighted the state’s security progress, recalling the launch of the Agunechemba law and Operation Udo Ga Achị in January 2025, a joint task force aimed at tackling criminality. “Twelve months after, the difference is clear,” he said, commending security agencies for their vigilance. “Thanks to the security agencies for keeping awake to make sure we sleep.”
He noted that improved security had encouraged many Anambra indigenes to return home over Christmas, confident in the safety of their communities. “Security is too important in Anambra. It is a continuous work in progress,” Soludo emphasised.
The 30 new Hilux vehicles will be used by the Nigeria Police Force to improve mobility, enhance responsiveness, and strengthen crime-fighting capabilities across the state.
Receiving the vehicles, State Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu thanked the governor, describing the donation as a crucial resource for effective policing. He noted that the vehicles would support patrolling, curb criminal activities, and reinforce the state’s positive security trajectory.
During the ceremony, CP Orutugu also presented 28 newly commissioned Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), all Anambra indigenes, who completed training at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano. The officers were formally inducted into the Nigeria Police Force by Governor Soludo.
The donation underscores the Anambra State Government’s commitment to ensuring that law enforcement agencies are adequately equipped to maintain peace, order, and the safety of residents.
