APC Governors Endorse Tinubu, Back 2027 Re-election Bid

The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and reaffirmed its support for his re-election in 2027.

The declaration was made by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, while reading a communiqué issued after the PGF and APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Lagos.

“The PGF reaffirmed its full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the policies of APC governments at all levels,” Uzodimma said.

The Forum also called on Nigerians to remain calm despite prevailing security challenges, assuring that governments at all levels are adopting holistic measures to address the situation.

Governors in attendance included those from Lagos, Kebbi, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Imo, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna, and Katsina. Other top party leaders present were Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; Senator Tokunbo Abiru; Lagos SSG, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; GAC Chairman, Tajudeen Olusi; members of the State Executive Council and other party chieftains.

According to the communiqué, the meetings were held on Friday, December 5 and Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Eko Hotels Board Room, Victoria Island, Lagos, and focused on reviewing Nigeria’s political, economic and social outlook, strengthening inter-state coordination, and consolidating support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The governors commended President Tinubu’s efforts to stabilise the economy, improve national security, and lay foundations for sustainable growth through food security initiatives, power sector reforms, transport infrastructure upgrades, social investments, and support for productive enterprises.

The PGF acknowledged the impact of economic reforms and rising cost-of-living pressures, praised Nigerians for their resilience, and pledged to intensify state-level interventions in food production, SME support, youth employment, and social protection for vulnerable citizens.

On infrastructure, the Forum commended Lagos State’s leadership in transport reforms and urban renewal, resolving to scale up investments in roads, housing, public transport, water, sanitation, digital connectivity, and climate-resilient infrastructure.

On security, the governors praised improved coordination among federal, state, and local security agencies, commended the sacrifices of security personnel, and pledged to deepen community-based security, intelligence gathering, and conflict-prevention mechanisms.

The Forum also committed to strengthening local governance and citizen participation through transparency, accountability, town hall engagements, and consultations with traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society, youths, and women groups.

Reaffirming party unity, the PGF said Progressive Governors see themselves as trustees of the people’s mandate and pledged to continue aligning state policies with national reforms.

They expressed renewed confidence in Nigeria’s future and urged citizens to go about their lawful activities without fear, while wishing Nigerians a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

The Forum also pledged sustained collaboration with the President, the National Assembly, local governments, the private sector, civil society, and traditional and religious institutions to build a nation founded on justice, opportunity, and shared prosperity.
