Gbenga Daniel Slams Abiodun, Calls Ogun Govt a ‘3-Man Cabal’

Former Ogun State Governor and current Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has criticised Governor Dapo Abiodun over his suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as evidence of the governor’s alleged intolerance for inclusive governance.

Daniel and Hon. Kunle Folarin were suspended by the Ogun APC over alleged anti-party activities and directed to appear before a disciplinary committee before their suspension could be lifted.

However, the APC National Working Committee (NWC), in a letter dated November 17, 2025, and signed by its Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru, affirmed that Daniel remains a bona fide member of the party.

Speaking on Sunday during the Midterm Community Assessment and Review Tour of BATOGD in Ijebu-North, Daniel linked his suspension to Governor Abiodun’s “inability to tolerate inclusive governance,” saying he is ready to face any investigation panel.

He lamented that Ogun State was being run by what he described as a “3-man closed government,” alleging that individuals who offer constructive advice are victimised, persecuted, or issued threats of sack or demolition notices. He labelled the situation a “cabal government” treating the state’s commonwealth as personal property.

Daniel commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for intervening in the party crisis, saying the president’s timely action prevented further escalation. He reaffirmed his loyalty to Tinubu and his second-term bid in 2027.

The senator also expressed worry over the stop-work order on the Itanrin General Hospital Road in Ijebu-North, which he said was issued because contractors handling the federal project were wrongly assumed to be linked to him. He clarified that the project is part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Daniel warned that Ogun State risks losing federal funding if the stop-work order persists beyond December 2025. He urged traditional rulers and community leaders to intervene and persuade the governor to allow work to continue, describing any loss of the project due to political grievances as the “height of political pettiness.”

Highlighting his achievements as governor, Daniel listed several educational projects, including the establishment of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic in Ijebu-Igbo, the completion of the multi-campus system of Olabisi Onabanjo University, and the creation of Colleges of Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine in Ibogun, Aiyetoro and Sagamu.

He added that as senator, he had facilitated solar streetlights, motorised boreholes, and sponsored bills for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Ijebu-Ode.

Daniel said the BATOGD Movement remains committed to the development of Ogun East and the success of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We will not be distracted by political witch-hunts. We will continue to work for you… and we trust that with your support, and God on the throne, sanity, progress, and true governance will ultimately prevail,” he added.
