Texas Authorities Arrest Afghan National Over Alleged Bomb Threat Video

Homeland Security officials say an Afghan national has been arrested in Texas after allegedly posting a social media video about “building a bomb” and threatening to blow up a building in Fort Worth.

The suspect, identified as Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, was taken into custody on Tuesday, according to a statement posted Saturday by Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security.

Court records show Alokozay was arrested on state terror-related charges and is currently being held at a Tarrant County corrections facility. Attorney information for him was not immediately available.

McLaughlin said Alokozay allegedly posted a TikTok video in which he claimed he was constructing an explosive device and suggested the Fort Worth area as a potential target.
“He was arrested on Tuesday by the Texas Department of Public Safety and FBI JTTF and charged with making Terroristic Threats,” she wrote on X.

The arrest occurred just one day before another Afghan national—29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal—allegedly shot two National Guard members in Washington, D.C. One victim, U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, later died from her injuries. Lakanwal has since been charged with first-degree murder.

McLaughlin added that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has filed a detainer request for Alokozay as the investigation continues.
