Djokovic Wins 101st Career Title but Withdraws from ATP Finals

Novak Djokovic secured the 101st title of his career by defeating Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the final of the Hellenic Championships in Athens on Saturday. The 38-year-old Serbian came from a set down to claim the victory, becoming one of only three men to surpass 100 career titles, behind Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103).

However, Djokovic’s triumph came at a cost. He aggravated an ongoing shoulder injury and announced he would withdraw from the ATP Finals in Turin, which start on November 9. Musetti, who had needed the win to qualify for Turin, will replace Djokovic in the tournament.

Djokovic’s Athens title is his second of 2025, following his earlier triumph in Geneva, and makes him the oldest tournament winner since Ken Rosewall in 1977. Despite the injury setback, the 24-time Grand Slam champion continues to defy age and remain a dominant presence on the ATP tour.

Elsewhere on the ATP tour, Britain’s Cameron Norrie narrowly missed out on the Moselle Open title, losing in a deciding-set tie-break to American teenager Learner Tien, who claimed his first ATP title.
