The Federal Government has launched a $220 million investment under the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0 to create sustainable job opportunities for young Nigerians.
Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the initiative on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, stating that it will be implemented in collaboration with the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Shettima explained that the programme is designed to connect high-potential graduates with practical work experience, mentorship, and training, helping them acquire the skills needed to thrive in the job market.
Describing NJFP 2.0 as a strategic intervention to curb youth unemployment, the Vice President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering a generation that drives innovation, productivity, and inclusive growth.
“Our goal is to bridge the transition gap between learning and earning for thousands of young Nigerians graduates who have the education, but not always the opportunity,” Shettima said.
He noted that the new phase builds on the success of the first NJFP, which provided paid work placements and mentorship across the public and private sectors.
“The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme represents hope hope that no young person will be left behind because of lack of opportunity,” he added. “It is our pledge to build a nation where talent meets purpose and where learning translates into livelihood.”
Shettima commended the EU and UNDP for their partnership, describing it as a demonstration of shared commitment to advancing youth empowerment and expanding economic opportunities for Africa’s largest youth population.
