Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has explained that the recent dissolution of his cabinet was not a punitive move but a mid-term performance review designed to reposition his administration for greater impact.
Speaking after a valedictory State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Minna, Bago said the decision was guided by an assessment of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set under his “New Niger Agenda.”
According to him, while some commissioners surpassed expectations, others fell short or had strengths better suited for different roles. He noted that the reshuffle would help channel expertise more effectively, drive growth, and ensure delivery on development promises.
The governor confirmed that some former commissioners would be reappointed, while others would assume new portfolios.
“I deeply appreciate the collective contributions of my team. They have all done well, but this review is necessary to sustain momentum and align with our mission,” Bago said.
Earlier, he announced the dissolution of the cabinet, retaining only key principal officers, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and a few others.
