Tinubu Reshuffles Media Team Roles to Enhance Communication Strategy

President Bola Tinubu has restructured the roles of two key officials in the State House media and communications team to streamline the administration’s communication approach.

In a statement issued on Monday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, revealed that Sunday Dare, initially appointed as Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, will now serve as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications. Similarly, Daniel Bwala, who was named Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, has been reassigned as Special Adviser on Policy Communication.

“These appointments, alongside the existing role of Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, clarify that there is no single individual spokesperson for the presidency,” Onanuga explained. “Instead, all three advisers will collectively act as spokespersons, ensuring effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements.”

The reshuffle aims to eliminate confusion surrounding the presidency’s communication roles following the exit of Ajuri Ngelale, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity. On Monday, Daniel Bwala had announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he had resumed his duties as the presidential spokesperson, prompting speculation.

“Today, I resumed officially as the Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications/Spokesperson (State House). I am happy to have joined a meeting of the robust and fantastic communication team of Mr. President. I love the existing unity among the team and hope we can leverage on that for greater synergy,” Bwala wrote.

The restructuring underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing communication efficiency and ensuring clarity in the dissemination of government initiatives and policies. This coordinated approach is expected to strengthen public engagement and foster transparency in the administration’s activities.
