Governor Zulum Appoints Dauda Iliya as New Spokesperson

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has appointed Alh Dauda Iliya as his new spokesperson and special adviser on media, following the death of Mallam Isa Gusau, who held the position until February 2024. The governor’s approval was announced in a statement on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed.

Dauda Iliya, hailing from Kwaya-Kusar local government area in southern Borno State, currently serves as the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Borno. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maiduguri and recently completed his MSc in Mass Communications at the same institution in 2024. Iliya has undergone numerous professional courses and training sessions.

He is a member of various professional organizations, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters. Before his appointment, Iliya worked as a reporter for the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), covering news in Borno State.

In his statement, Governor Zulum congratulated Iliya and urged him to utilize his extensive experience in service to the people of Borno State.
