On Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, hundreds of citizens gathered in Abuja for the protest titled #FearlessInOctober, calling for an end to poor governance.
Organized by a coalition of civil society groups, activists, and concerned citizens, the demonstration highlighted ongoing frustrations with the country’s political, economic, and social issues. This protest also reignited the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement, which had taken place just two months prior.
The rally, predominantly composed of young Nigerians, saw protesters marching through the capital with impactful placards bearing messages like “Enough is Enough,” “End Bad Governance Now,” and “We Demand Accountability.” Prominent human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore led the demonstration.
