The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) aims to increase crude oil production to two million barrels per day by the end of the year.
This target follows a recent rise in production from 1.27 million barrels in June to 1.6 million in July, as reported by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
During a meeting at the Nigerian Navy Headquarters, NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, represented by Folorunsho Karim, expressed confidence in achieving this goal. Kyari highlighted the critical role of security agencies in reducing oil theft and pipeline vandalism, which have seen significant decreases.
Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of the Naval Staff, acknowledged the complex security challenges in Nigeria, including oil theft and piracy, and emphasized the Navy’s efforts to support business operations by ensuring security and swift handling of investigations. This cooperation aims to facilitate the Federal Government’s goal of developing Nigeria’s blue economy.
