FGN Approves Salary Increase for Civil Servants, Pensioners

The Federal Government has given its nod to a salary increase ranging from 25% to 35% for Civil Servants across various Consolidated Salary Structures, effective from January 1, 2024.
According to Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), the approval also extends to pensioners on the Defined Benefits Scheme, with an increase in pension ranging from 20% to 28%.
Njoku’s statement clarified that the salary adjustments apply to six consolidated salary structures, namely:
Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS)
Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS)
Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS)
Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS)
Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS)
Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS)
It was noted that employees in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors had already benefited from salary increases under specific structures such as:
– Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS)
– Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS)
For Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, it involved:
– Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS)
– Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS)
The Health Sector also benefitted through the:
– Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS)
– Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS)
