A US actor, Cole Brings Plenty, known for his role in the Yellowstone spinoff series “1923,” has been discovered dead in Kansas after being named as a suspect in a domestic violence investigation.
Brings Plenty, 27, was reported missing earlier this week by his family after he failed to attend an appointment with his agent. His body was found on Friday after local police were dispatched to inspect an unoccupied vehicle.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office announced the discovery in a statement shared on social media, indicating that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Brings Plenty’s death is underway.
The Lawrence Kansas Police Department (LKPD) confirmed that they are providing support and assistance to the family in this case.
On Tuesday, LKPD identified Cole Brings Plenty, the actor from “1923,” as a suspect in a domestic violence investigation, citing probable cause for his arrest.
In a statement, the police said, “Officers responded to reports of a female screaming for help, but the suspect fled before officers arrived. The investigation identified Brings Plenty, and traffic cameras showed him leaving the city immediately after the incident, traveling southbound on 59 Highway.”
Due to the nature of the allegations involving domestic violence, the police emphasized that limited information could be shared to protect the victim’s privacy.
Actor Moses Brings Plenty, 54, shared the heartbreaking news of his nephew’s passing on Instagram. He posted a statement from Cole’s father, Joe, confirming the tragic loss.
“I am deeply saddened to confirm that my son, Cole, has been found and is no longer with us,” the statement reads.
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the prayers and positive thoughts you sent for Cole.
“During this incredibly difficult time, we ask for privacy as we process our grief and figure out how we move forward.”
Tributes have been pouring in for the late actor, including heartfelt messages from fellow Yellowstone stars.
Hassie Harrison, known for her role as Laramie in the series, expressed her condolences on Instagram: “Oh, Mo. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Sending love and light to your whole family.”
Wendy Moniz, who portrays Governor Lynelle Perry, also shared her sorrow: “Mo I’m so saddened to learn this…sending you & your family love.”
Beyond the acting community, others have been expressing shock and sadness.
Artist Mark Maggiori took to social media to remember Cole: “I loved him. May his journey to the other world be a good one. We will visit him later on… much love.”
Moses Brings Plenty had previously shared a missing poster on his Instagram to raise awareness about his nephew.
The family reported Cole as missing after he failed to show up for an appointment with his agent for a TV show, which was unusual behavior for him, and his mobile phone was switched off.
He was last seen leaving Lawrence, Kansas, in the early hours of last Sunday.
Cole Brings Plenty portrayed the character Pete Plenty Clouds in the American western drama TV series “1923,” a prequel to the popular Paramount series “Yellowstone,” which chronicles a generation of the Dutton family through Prohibition, drought, and the early stages of the Great Depression.
