Explosion Claims One Child, Injures 10 Children In Kaduna LG

A tragic incident occurred in Kidandan village, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the death of one child and injures at least 10 others in an explosion. 
Preliminary reports suggest that a pupil, learning under a local cleric, picked up an object from the bush, which later exploded among fellow pupils.
The Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan said operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Department have been deployed to investigate the cause of the explosion. While awaiting confirmation on whether it was a bomb explosion, the victims were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in the state, confirmed the death of one pupil, Zaidu Usman, and informed that around ten injured victims are receiving medical attention at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.
Governor Uba Sani expressed shock and sadness, offering condolences to the victims’ families and calling for increased vigilance by parents and community leaders.
The governor also appealed to parents and community leaders to increase their vigilance on the activities of their children and wards, given their susceptibility to various dangers.
The governor directed the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs to liaise with security agencies for an urgent investigation into the cause of the explosion, to ensure the safety of residents, mobilize emergency support and ensure prompt medical attention to victims.
Meanwhile, in another unfortunate incident, suspected bandits have attacked Kuriga village along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway, on Thursday night killing a secondary school principal, Idris Sufyan.
The bandits also abducted his wife and son. The police spokesman confirmed that the principal was shot while resisting the kidnapping attempt.
Security operatives are actively pursuing the bandits to rescue the kidnapped victims and apprehend the criminals.
