The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has disclosed that Globacom (Glo) customers are set to face restrictions in calling MTN lines due to unsettled interconnect charges. Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs Department at NCC, conveyed this information in a statement on Monday.
“Globacom was notified of the application made by MTN and was given the opportunity to comment and state its case,” Muoka explained. “The commission, having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness, determined that Globacom does not have sufficient or justifiable reason for non-payment of the interconnect charges.”
Upon the expiration of the notice, “subscribers of Globacom will no longer be able to make calls to MTN but will be able to receive calls. The partial disconnection, however, will allow in-bound calls to the Globacom network.”
It is worth noting that five years ago, MTN had disconnected Glo customers following an NCC directive due to a N4 billion debt.
