Hon Musa Mustapha, former commissioner of Yobe State Ministry of Transport and Energy, emerges victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Yobe East Senatorial Bye-election scheduled for February.
The seat became vacant due to the appointment of Senator Ibrahim Gaidam as the Minister of Police Affairs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Mustapha, also known as ‘Kulas,’ secured a landslide victory with 356 out of 357 votes, while his sole opponent, Salisu Sanda, scored zero, and one vote was declared invalid. The primary took place at the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu on Saturday, supervised by a three-member committee led by Ibrahim Masari, with Ibrahim Jalo as the secretary. In his acceptance speech, Mustapha pledged to safeguard the interests of the people of Yobe East Senatorial District (Zone A) in the 10th National Assembly.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni and Yobe State APC Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, for their exemplary leadership. Mustapha also thanked the delegates for their trust in the APC, vowing to justify the confidence placed in him.
