After an alleged secret raid by the Department of State Services (DSS), the sister agency of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on the EFCC’s headquarters, files and flash drives holding information regarding former Nigerian governors under investigation are apparently missing.
Recall that the EFCC office was purportedly the target of a DSS raid that began on Friday, June 16, and lasted till Saturday morning.
After the raid, EFCC staff were also told not to share information to the public about the raid in any way.
SaharaReporters claim that the recent raids on the EFCC offices, first in Ikoyi, Lagos, and then in Abuja, were more political than they initially appeared to be.
It was also gathered that the DSS was working in the interest of someone “very important” to President Bola Tinubu.
Apparently, the DSS had warned the EFCC to stay away from the political cases it’s handling.
A security source told SaharaReporters on Tuesday that the DSS operatives carted away files and flash drives containing sensitive information about former governors, ministers and senators under investigation during the alleged raid.
The source said “The DSS has told EFCC to concentrate on non-political cases for now.
“During the secret raid of EFCC offices in Abuja and Lagos, the DSS carted away files and flash disks of ex-governors, senators and ministers under investigation.”
