A crucial National Working Committee (NWC) meeting for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3.
Senator Iyiola Omisore, the party’s national secretary, issued notices to the meeting to each of the 24 Committee members.
The meeting of the party’s administrative organ will be presided over by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman, according to the notice released on Friday.
The notice reads: “Distinguished NWC members, HE, the national chairman has called the regular NWC meeting for Wednesday, 3rd May 2023. This notice is given early enough to allow our esteemed members to attend. Thanks for your attention. Good afternoon everyone.
“Time of the meeting 12: noon prompt.”
The meeting’s agenda, however, was not made clear in the meeting notice.
The agenda for the meeting will be sent to all NWC members by Monday, according to a reliable source in the party’s National Secretariat, who spoke with The Nation.
The meeting is coming after the National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Lukman dragged Abdullahi and Omisore to court over their refusal to convene a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Lukman in a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari explained why he dragged the duo to court. According to Lukman, he had no option as they failed to heed his call to be guided by the party’s constitution.
The letter was addressed to Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, as well as the members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) and the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), through its chairman, Governor Atiku Bagudu.
According to Lukman, who asked President Buhari to see the letter he (Lukman) sent to Adamu on April 5, he made nine demands calling for immediate adherence to party rules regarding accountability.
