The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dan Iya wrote a letter to the PDP Chairman of Kware Ward, Kware Local Government Area of Sokoto State, to inform him of his resignation from the party. The letter said, “I write to notify you of withdrawal of my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from February 8, 2023.
“I appreciate the opportunities given to me, which made me serve in various capacities under the PDP,” he wrote. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dealt a significant blow with this development, which comes 16 days before the presidential election on February 25. Governor Aminu Tambuwal is in charge of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who is running for office.
Dan Iya hasn’t said what he plans to do next in politics, but sources say he’s on his way to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
