Katsina State government will commission all the ranching projects in 10 local government areas prone to security challenges next month.
This was revealed to journalists during the inspection of some projects at Jibia, Batsari, Kurfi, and Dutsima LGAs by the special adviser to the governor on livestock and animal development, Dr. Lawal Bagiwa. He said most of the projects had reached 80 percent of actuality and by March the government would officially commission them and put them to use to solve the lingering farmers and herders clashes in the state. “We are here to inspect some of the ranching projects we have been doing for over two years. Recall we had federal government support of N6.25 billion for the scheme in 10 LGAs.
“This scheme is the same all over the 10 local government councils, they consist same concepts which are meant to give room for pastoralists to live in peace with farmers, to improve our genetic programs, to develop a pasture land to have a healthy animal for milk and meat production”, he said. Bagiwa expressed satisfaction with the level of work at all the 16 prototype projects in the four LGAs so far inspected, they include school structures, slaughtering slaps, veterinary clinics, homesteads, mosques, and solar water tanks as well as 100 hectares of land for grazing.
