Osun speaker: Gboyega Oyetola Will Regain His Mandate Before July 5

Hon. Timothy Owoeye

Hon. Timothy Owoeye, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, said yesterday that former state Governor Gboyega Oyetola would become governor again before July 5, 2023.

Owoeye said emphatically that residents of the state, especially those affiliated with the APC, may put their worries to rest since Oyetola would get back his mandate before July 5. Owoeye noted that on July 5, 2019, the Supreme Court declared him (Oyetola) the winner of the September 2018 governorship election and predicted that the Supreme Court would rule on the pending dispute and return Oyetola by July 5. Owoeye announced this at the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office opening in Osogbo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council was officially inaugurated. He urged residents to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, and other party members running for office at the state and federal levels.

However, the Speaker was confident that his party’s candidates would win. He said,  “You will recall that the Supreme Court declared Oyetola winner on July 5, 2019. The coming one will not be up to July 5, and Oyetola will be returned as governor. “They think they can cheat us. You can see that they cannot appoint anything. We thank God for the BIVAS that revealed the secret. “Tinubu is moving around the country and someone sitting in Adamawa or Anambra State is saying he wants to get power.” Owoeye also put an end to rumors that certain APC lawmakers are defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying, “None of the members of APC in the Assembly will go. No vacancy in the Assembly.”
