Osun: PDP Condemns Attempted Injunction Seeking To Stop Adeleke’s Inauguration

Osun State Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned an alleged attempt by some members of the opposition seeking an injunction to prevent the inauguration of Osun State Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke, which is scheduled for Sunday, November 27, 2022.

Dr. Akindele Adekunle, Chairman of the PDP Osun State Caretaker, claimed that some people approached a Federal High Court in Osogbo seeking an order to prevent Adeleke’s inauguration.

According to him, it is inappropriate for some defeated politicians to want to halt a democratic process out of greed for power.

In a statement, Adekunle praised the judiciary for refusing to issue an injunction to prevent Adeleke’s inauguration as governor.

He called on the legal disciplinary committee to summon the group of lawyers behind such acts for disciplinary encounters for alloying themselves to use as a tool to destabilize democracy in the state.

The PDP caretaker chairman said “His lordship, Justice Emmanuel, in his wisdom, declined to grant the order, adjourning the case to Thursday to explain why the swearing-in must stop.

“It beats the imagination of any sound mind to even contemplate halting a democratic constitutional process. The greed for power is driving some defeated politicians into electoral insanity.

“We call on the legal disciplinary committee to summon the affected lawyers for a disciplinary encounter. There must be a red line. To surrender oneself as a tool to destabilise democracy should warrant disciplinary action from the bar.”
